Learn Dirty Seven, one card at a time

Empty your hand, stir up a little trouble, and keep your score low. These are Varaq’s house rules; other tables may play differently.

Set the table

3–6 players, one 52-card deck without Jokers, and seven cards each. Play friends or bots; casual play needs no account.

  • The remaining cards form the face-down draw pile.
  • One ordinary card starts the face-up pile: never a 7, 8, 10, Ace or Jack.
  • The first empty hand wins the round. Keep your total low to win the match.

Play a match or draw one

Match the top card’s suit or rank. You can draw instead; only that newly drawn card may then be played.

Match suit or rank

On 9♣, which card can you play?

On the table

9 Clubs

Which card would you play?

9 Hearts
4 Diamonds

9♥. 9♥ matches the rank. Any club also works. A Jack is wild on an ordinary turn. You may draw instead; play the card you draw if it fits, or keep it.

Draw, then decide

No match in your hand. What can you do?

On the table

9 Clubs

Your new card

5 Clubs

Draw one. Double-tap the face-down pile, drag a back to your hand, or use Enter/Space. Only the newly drawn card may be played; keeping it ends your turn. An empty stock is refilled from covered discards.

Five ways to cause trouble

Sevens build penalties, Eights skip, Tens reverse, Aces keep your turn and Jacks choose the suit.

Chain the sevens

Two Sevens played. What must the next player do?

On the table

7 Spades
7 Hearts

Play a 7 or draw 4. Each seven adds two: 2, 4, 6, 8. Drawing the penalty ends your turn. You cannot escape it with a Jack.

Eight skips

Play order: Sara → Ali → Mina. Sara plays an Eight. Who goes next?

On the table

8 Diamonds

Mina. Ali is skipped. Mina takes the next turn.

Ten reverses

Play order: Sara → Ali → Mina. Ali plays a Ten. Who goes next?

On the table

10 Clubs

Sara. The direction reverses, so play returns to Sara. Watch the direction arrow.

Ace: play again

After A♥, which follow-up fits?

On the table

A Hearts

Which card would you play?

J Clubs
6 Clubs

J♣. Follow an Ace with the same suit, another Ace, or any Jack. If you cannot or do not want to, draw one and end your turn. Going out on an Ace ends the hand immediately.

Jack calls a suit

Clubs were called. Which card fits?

On the table

J Diamonds

Which card would you play?

3 Diamonds
3 Clubs

Clubs. Follow the called clubs, play another Jack, or draw. The large suit on the pile overrides the Jack's printed suit until the next play. If your Jack choice times out, it plays with its printed suit. A Jack is worth 11; finishing on it never doubles scores.

Call your last card. Keep your score low.

Say “Last call!” when one card remains. When someone goes out, everyone else scores the cards still in their hand.

Call last card

Ali forgets to call last card. Mina calls him out. What happens?

Cards left

K Spades

Ali draws 1. A missed call stays open until that player plays again or is caught. Calling first protects them. Each missed player has a separate call-out target; bots never call anyone out.

Lowest score wins

These cards remain when Sara goes out. Your penalty?

K Spades
7 Diamonds
2 Clubs

22. 13 + 7 + 2 = 22. Number cards count their value; J=11, Q=12, K=13, A=14. No multipliers. When anyone passes 100, the lowest total wins.
